Srinagar, Aug 12: In a powerful display of unity and patriotism, all districts across Kashmir came alive with the colours of the Indian tricolour as people from all walks of life participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga rallies.Held as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, the rallies aimed to encourage citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and reaffirm their commitment to the nation. Across all districts of Kashmir, students, youth, government officials, local residents, personnel from J&K Police and CAPFs joined hands in a Tiranga march, waving the national flag and singing patriotic songs to show their love and commitment to the nation.
Budgam: A major Tiranga rally was held at Budgam, jointly flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat and SSP Nikhil Borkar. The procession, which started from the Sports Stadium, moved through key locations like District Hospital and Court Road before concluding at Behisht-e-Zehra Park. The DC said the campaign symbolises unity and emotional bonding with India’s journey of independence. He praised the unprecedented public participation, urging citizens to continue hoisting flags at homes and offices. The event featured cultural performances and patriotic songs, strengthening the district’s resolve to uphold democratic ideals.
Ganderbal: District administration Ganderbal organised a grand Mega Tiranga Rally from the Mini Secretariat to Qamaria Ground, with thousands of people participating. Led by DC Jatin Kishore, the rally included officials, students, and civil society members carrying the tricolour and raising slogans of patriotism. The event concluded with patriotic songs and a pledge to build a developed India by 2047. The district also hosted Tiranga stalls showcasing local products.
Pulwama: In Pulwama, a large rally led by DC Dr. Basharat Qayoom and SSP P.D. Nitya drew thousands of citizens, including families of martyrs, youth, and social activists. The march from Sports Stadium ended at GDC for Women, where tribute was paid to bravehearts, and families of martyrs were felicitated. A vibrant bike rally and cultural performances added energy to the event. Participants took the Viksit Bharat Pledge, promising to contribute towards national progress.
Kupwara: Kupwara hosted a spirited Mega Tiranga Rally, with thousands of students and citizens marching through the town. The event was flagged off by DC Shrikant Suse and included wreath-laying ceremonies at Martyr Memorial. The DC highlighted the unity and patriotism displayed, urging continued participation in upcoming Independence Day events.
Handwara and Kulgam: In Handwara, a grand rally was led by ADC Javed Naseem Masoodi and SSP Choudhary Mushtaq Ahmad, drawing large crowds. Similarly, Kulgam saw a vibrant rally from the Mini Secretariat, with officials, students, and residents waving flags and chanting slogans. The streets resonated with patriotic fervour.
Shopian: Shopian organised the district’s largest Tiranga rally, with over 10,000 participants from various sectors. Led by DC Shishir Gupta and attended by local leaders, the march passed through prominent areas, culminating in a concert at Aglar featuring patriotic performances. The rally aimed to instill deep patriotism and promote the hoisting of flags at homes. The event also included a Tiranga concert showcasing local cultural talents.
Bandipora: Gurez Valley in Bandipora witnessed an enthusiastic wave of patriotism, with multiple rallies organised by the SDM Gurez. Alongside marches, students participated in painting competitions and cultural activities, expressing their patriotism creatively. The flag continues to fly high in homes and public spaces across the valley.
