Jammu, Aug 02: Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu today organized a live streaming event at Baba Jitto, Kisan Kendra Talab Tillo to mark the release of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi.According to a statement issued here, the event witnessed the presence of Chairman DDC Jammu Bharat Bhushan; Member Legislative Assembly Jammu West Arvind Gupta; Secretary Agriculture Production Department Neetu Gupta and Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta and several other officers.During the main national event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 20th installment of Rs 20,500 crore under PM-KISAN, benefitting over 9.7 crore farmers across the country. This financial assistance aims to support farmers in meeting agricultural inputs and allied expenses, enhancing their overall welfare.Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DDC Jammu, Bharat Bhushan emphasized that the PM-KISAN scheme is a mark of respect to the nation’s ‘Annadata’ and serves as a crucial support to farming families. He encouraged farmers to adopt modern and scientific agricultural techniques to boost productivity and profitability and appealed to educated youth to consider agriculture as a viable and rewarding profession.Member Legislative Assembly Jammu West Arvind Gupta and Secretary APD Neetu Gupta also addressed the farmers, reaffirming the government’s support for agricultural development and farmer welfare.Addressing the gathering, Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta, informed that 4.20 lakh farmers of Jammu division have benefitted from this installment with the disbursement of Rs 84 crore directly in their accounts. He further shared that till date, a total of Rs 1,735 crore has been disbursed to farmers in the Jammu region under the PM-KISAN scheme. Highlighting the importance of the scheme, he stated that PM-KISAN, one of the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programmes, is a testament to the Government of India’s continued commitment to a robust and inclusive agricultural economy.Similar live streaming programmes and awareness events were conducted across all districts, sub-divisions, blocks and panchayats in the Jammu region, making the release of the 20th installment a truly participatory and inclusive celebration of farmer empowerment.
