Srinagar, July 25:In the midst of devotion and daunting mountain paths, a quiet yet powerful force is winning hearts along the Baltal axis of the Amarnath Yatra—the all-women “May I Help You” teams of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
A statement issued here said that clad in distinctive orange vests marked with the reassuring words “May I Help You”, these CRPF women personnel have become the most sought-after support system for pilgrims, especially women yatris. From guiding pilgrims through pre-yatra formalities to providing first aid, distributing drinking water, and even carrying ill pilgrims to the base hospital, their compassion and commitment have added a human-centric touch to the spiritual journey.
Deployed at Manigam base camp and key points near the Baltal-Domail entry, the initiative is being run under the direct supervision of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CRPF Srinagar North and Incharge of the Baltal axis, who stated: “‘May I Help You’ is fast emerging as the most sought-after help desk of the Yatra, offering maximum protection with minimum inconvenience to yatris,” he said.
Whether it’s offering a comforting word, assisting with accommodation details, or responding in medical emergencies, these women have transformed the concept of security into a pillar of trust and warmth. In several cases, ill female pilgrims were swiftly transported in ambulances thanks to the prompt response of the team. Their presence has instilled a sense of confidence among women pilgrims, many of whom now instinctively approach the orange-vested helpers for any assistance.
Alongside them, CRPF’s Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) continue their vital mission, working tirelessly to ensure rescue, relief, and safety in the treacherous Himalayan terrain.Together, these CRPF initiatives reflect a progressive, people-first approach to pilgrimage security, where strength meets compassion, and vigilance walks hand in hand with care.
