Doda, July 18:
In view of ongoing counter-terror operations and upcoming regional events, Director General of Police, J&K, NalinPrabhat (IPS), conducted a high-level security review during his visit to Doda district on Thursday.
The visit aimed to recalibrate field-level preparedness across the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban (DKR) Range, particularly in light of emerging threat perceptions and heightened security sensitivities in the region.
A strategic security review meeting was held in Bhaderwah, attended by senior officials from the civil administration, police, Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Key participants included DIG DKR Range, SSP Doda, SSP Kishtwar, Commander 9 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Commanding Officers of 4 RR and CRPF units.
The deliberations focused on multi-agency coordination, domination of sensitive areas, and real-time intelligence integration to detect and neutralise potential threats. Special emphasis was placed on vulnerable transit corridors and previously disturbed high-altitude regions of Doda and Kishtwar.
The DGP held detailed briefings with field commanders on deployment strategies, operational challenges, andarea-specific threat assessments. He stressed the need to enhance grid saturation in higher reaches, fortify soft targets, and implement layered security checkpoints across sensitive zones.
Underscoring the significance of intelligence-led policing, Prabhat reviewed the integration of surveillance inputs with area domination plans. He directed the use of community policing, covert surveillance, and early-warning mechanisms to improve threat detection and response capabilities.
Calling for seamless joint operations between the J&K Police, Army, and CAPFs, the DGP emphasized sustained high-altitude patrols, night-time area domination, and heightened security presence in urban centers. He praised the efforts of the Doda and Kishtwar police for maintaining law and order despite the region’s difficult terrain and recent attempts by terror groups to destabilize the Chenab Valley.
The DGP also conducted a review of logistical preparedness, including troop mobility, communication systems, and emergency response protocols, to ensure full operational readiness during the forthcoming festivals and public events.
“Tactical preparedness must go hand in hand with public confidence. We must remain agile, unpredictable, and integrated in our approach,” he told officers during the review.
