Srinagar, July 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that India has never remained silent in the face of terrorism and has always given a strong response be it through the surgical strike after the 2016 Uri attack or the air strike following the 2019 Pulwama incident. He said that the recent “Operation Sindoor” also reflects India’s firm and swift response to terrorism. While addressing a rally in Kerala, Shah emphasised that Indian forces took direct action by targeting terrorist camps in “Operation Sindoor,” showing that the government remains proactive in counter-terror efforts. “Terrorism has no space in India or anywhere else. The BJP government is committed to wiping it out completely,” he said.
He said that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have taken tough and successful steps to fight terrorism, pointing to key operations carried out in Jammu and Kashmir over the years as proof.Shah further said that the government has set a goal to make the country free of Naxalism by March 2026 as part of its broader national security strategy. He also took a swipe at opposition-led states, accusing them of not taking strong steps against extremist organizations. Without directly naming any party, Shah questioned why some leaders remain silent about the activities of banned groups and stressed the need for all parties to unite on national security issues.
