Srinagar, July 11: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, NalinPrabhat, Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting in South Kashmir to assess and strengthen security measures for the ongoingAmarnathjiYatra 2025.The meeting was attended by DIG South Kashmir Range JavedMattoo, SSPs of South Kashmir districts, and senior officers from the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and other security agencies.DGP Prabhat commended the unflagging commitment of all personnel deployed for the smooth and secure conduct of the pilgrimage. He appreciated the synergy among the various forces in ensuring a peaceful environment for the yatris amid the challenging terrain and evolving security dynamics.During the review, the DGP underlined the need for continuous rehearsal of contingency drills to maintain readiness for any unforeseen situation. He stated that all forces must constantly assess and plug grey areas in their deployment and response strategies.
“The dynamic nature of threats demands dynamic responses. Our drills and contingency plans must be refined regularly, with clear communication and coordination across all units on the ground,” the DGP said, according to officials present at the meeting.DGP Prabhat also highlighted the importance of maintaining relentless pressure on militant networks operating in the hinterland. He directed field commanders to sustain intelligence-based operations to prevent any attempts at disruption, particularly during the yatra period.Security arrangements for the AmarnathYatra have been significantly intensified this year following heightened threat perceptions. Multiple layers of security, including drone surveillance, road-opening parties, and mountain patrols, have been deployed along both Pahalgam and Baltal routes.This visit to South Kashmir was part of a broader strategy to oversee on-ground preparedness and ensure swift, coordinated responses to any emergency. The focus remains on ensuring the safety of pilgrims, who continue to arrive in large numbers despite intermittent rainfall and difficult terrain.AmarnathjiYatra 2025, which commenced on July 3, has so far seen over 1.30 lakh pilgrims perform darshan at the holy cave shrine. The security grid, comprising J&K Police, Army, CRPF, BSF, and intelligence agencies, continues to operate in close coordination to safeguard the pilgrimage.
