Srinagar/Jammu, July 8: The Traffic Police headquarters, J&K has issued a detailed traffic advisory for July 9, regulating vehicular movement along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other key routes including the Mughal Road, SSG Road and the Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag axis, in light of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji YatraA statement issued here said that commuters from Reasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda and Ramban must carry valid photo identity cards if travelling after cut-off timings from Jammu or Udhampur, to ensure smooth facilitation.“LMV/passenger vehicle operators are strongly advised to travel during daylight hours due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal. Operators carrying fresh perishables or livestock should strictly adhere to previous advisories, considering poor road conditions at Nashri-Dalwas and Marog–Kishtwari Pather,” the statement said. Vehicles carrying fresh produce from the Valley must be loaded and parked before 9:00 am daily between Navyug Tunnel and Levdoora to avoid delays.“Only vehicles with 6 and 10 tyres will be allowed to ply via Dhar Road. Overloading is strictly discouraged, vehicles must carry sufficient fuel and ensure mechanical fitness before commencing the journey. Subject to weather and road conditions, HMVs will be allowed from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu, but no HMV shall be permitted after 1900 hrs,” the statement said.It said that in order to facilitate yatra convoys and prioritise perishable cargo—all fuel tankers, LPG carriers (loaded/empty), FCI empty trucks, and other HMVs up to 10 tyres returning to Jammu must use the Mughal Road, per Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order dated July 1.As per scheduled movement for July 9, private cars/LMVs/Passenger Vehicles—will be allowed from both directions (Jammu-Srinagar) on NH-44, weather and road conditions permitting.
“From Nagrota (Jammu): 0600 hrs – 1200 hrs, from Jakheni (Udhampur): 0700 hrs – 1300 hrs, from Qazigund (towards Jammu): 1130 hrs – 1400 hrs, no vehicle will be allowed to move before or after the cut-off timings,” the statement said. “For Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)—LMVs and High-Powered SUVs (HPSVs) will be allowed from both sides subject to clearance by NHIDCL. Parana to Anantnag: 0800 hrs – 1600 hrs, Daksum to Kishtwar: 0900 hrs – 1500 hrs, HMVs remain prohibited, barring designated vehicles, as per SDM orders.”
For SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)—Minamarg to Srinagar—LMVs/HMVs allowed from 0500 hrs – 1000 hrs, Sonamarg to Kargil—LMVs/HMVs allowed from 1130 hrs – 1730 hrs No movement allowed post cut-off timings. “Security Forces convoys must plan to avoid yatra disruption,” the statement said. “For Mughal Road (Shopian–Poonch Axis, LMVs allowed both ways during the day. HMVs (up to 10 tyres) only from Shopian to Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.”
