Jammu, Nov 19: The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, R R Swain, today asserted the Jammu and Kashmir Police as the paramount force in combating terrorism, citing their unmatched familiarity with the region’s topography and demographics.
Speaking at a gathering of officers and jawans at the District Police Line in Rajouri, DGP Swain underscored the critical role of the police force in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
During his extensive visit to the border district of Rajouri, DGP Swain convened a darbar of officers and jawans, fostering dialogue with jurisdictional DySPs & SHOs from districts Rajouri and Poonch. The high-level meeting included representatives from the Army, CRPF, BSF, and sister agencies, with a shared commitment to coordinated actions against terrorism and its backers.
DGP Swain stressed the imperative for officers to work with dedication, assuring them that the acknowledgment of mistakes is a part of growth. He urged officers to focus on identifying the terror ecosystem and enforcing stringent actions against those involved in unlawful activities, including terror-related offenses, narcotics, bovine smuggling, and corruption.
In his address to police personnel, DGP Swain underscored the values of honesty and dedication in the execution of lawful duties. He advocated for a fair and respectful relationship between senior and junior officers, placing an emphasis on prompt redressal of genuine grievances from jawans. The DGP announced a monthly special reward to recognize outstanding efforts in fostering positive relations with the public.
DGP Swain also took a moment to commend officers and personnel involved in the recent Behrote Top operation on November 17, 2023. He concluded by urging officers and jawans to establish strong bonds with the community, viewing them as crucial allies in the fight against terrorism.

Key discussion points:

Implementation of environmentally conscious operations against terrorism, mindful of challenges faced by citizens in border districts.
Revitalising Border Police Posts through collaborative efforts with various security forces.
Reinforcing Intelligence & Border Security Grids to elevate security measures.
Instituting mechanisms for more people-friendly policing and fortifying the relationship between the police and citizens.
