Jammu, Jan 14: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu and former minister, S. Manjit Singh on Sunday demanded the restoration of the democratic system and Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
As per a press release, a one-day convention was organized at village Deoli, Bishnah by Ashwani Kumar, Apni Party leader. The convention was chaired by Manjit Singh.
During the convention, the former minister highlighted the demands of the people and urged the government to open an ITI College in the area and a special recruitment drive should be started for the unemployed youth in Bishnah and its adjoining areas.
“The unemployment has increased among the unemployed youth in Bishnah, Deoli, and other villages whereas the scope of employment has reduced in the industrial sector,” he said, adding, The unemployed youth have been falling into the trap of drug addiction that needs to be handled with careful crafting of policy for their employment in army, paramilitary forces, and J&K Police.”
Singh demanded reservation for the local youth in the industrial units of Bari Brahmana so that the skilled and unskilled youth of Bishnah and other adjoining areas could be employed there.
Referring to the growing concerns of the people regarding development; he said that there is no alternative to an elected government. “The elections must be held to address the concerns of the people from both the regions. The development has received a setback with no elected government in place. Therefore, it becomes imperative to hold assembly elections in J&K as early as possible, besides restoring statehood,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the organizer of the program at village Deoli and lauded the participation. Regarding the empowerment of women, Manjit said the Apni Party believes in the empowerment of all the sections of society, especially women for their social, educational, and political purposes so that they can empower the society.
He said the party has committed that it would enhance the widow pension/handicapped pension/old age pension up to Rs 5,000, provide four cooking gas cylinders to each poor family under the Ujjwala scheme, and enhance the marriage assistance to the poor girls up to Rs 1 lakh with immediate release of the money for their marriage, and other such schemes that would benefit the people across the regions if Apni Party forms next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also sought the vote and support of the people for the Apni Party candidates in the upcoming elections. “We are committed to end the discrimination and promote brotherhood in the society where the traditional political parties have sowed the seed of division to gain votes. However, the Apni Party believes in equality and an end to the religious and regional bias,” he added.
