Srinagar, June 27: Ahead of Shri Amarnathji Yatra, Jammu and Kashmir has stepped up security along the vital Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), and elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure the safe and smooth movement of the pilgrims.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Kulbir Singh said that elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure the safe and smooth movement of pilgrims through the district.
“We have strengthened deployments at all sensitive points, reviewed the traffic regulation plan, and taken necessary precautions to deal with any contingency. Our focus is on ensuring that the Yatra is conducted in a safe, peaceful, and coordinated manner,” he said.
SSP further added that Ramban, being a key transit district for the pilgrimage, remains under heightened security vigil.
“The district police, in coordination with CRPF and other security agencies, have established multi-layered checkpoints and intensified patrolling, especially in vulnerable areas like Banihal, Nachlana, Ramsu, and Chanderkote,” he said.
The district police have also activated drone surveillance and increased night patrols to monitor movement along the highway.
“Terrorist threats are always a concern, but we are fully prepared to respond to any situation. There is complete synergy among all law enforcement agencies operating in the district,” Singh noted.
He said the overall preparedness includes not just counter-terror measures, but also crowd management, traffic regulation, and public safety.
“We have reviewed the traffic plan to ensure uninterrupted movement of the Yatra convoys and have deployed dedicated teams to manage any potential roadblocks or congestion,” he said.
Emergency response units, medical teams, and disaster management squads have been stationed at strategic points. The police, in coordination with the civil administration, have also facilitated langars, shelter points, and control rooms for pilgrim support.
The SSP urged both the pilgrims and local residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the authorities. “We appeal to everyone to follow advisories and maintain discipline. With collective effort and public support, we are confident of ensuring a smooth and secure Yatra,” he added.
The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to begin on July 03 and will conclude on August 16.
