Srinagar, June 25: Expressing deep concern over the mysterious death of Surjeet Singh, a Sikh youth from Dharamgund in Tral area, the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has demanded a thorough probe into the incident. The Committee has said that the investigation will make the people aware about the circumstances that led to the death of the Sikh youth.
In a statement APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that since the death of Surjeet Singh has taken place in mysterious circumstances it is imperative to hold a thorough investigation in the same. Raina said that the probe will ensure justice for the bereaved family and if anyone is found involved behind the death of the Sikh youth he should be taken to task.
“There is a lot of anger among the community members and as such there is a need to investigate the whole matter. The authorities should not sit over the case and order for a probe on an immediate basis. This would clear the air and people would feel that justice has been done,” said APSCC Chairman.
Raina lamented that in the past no probe was carried out in similar incidents that took place in Kashmir. He said that in 2023 body of one Gurmeet Singh Sethi, was recovered from the Jhelum at Baramulla and till date nobody knows who killed him.
The APSCC Chairman said that in 2019 one Simranjeet Singh died after being hit by bullets at Khasipora in Tral adding that since no probe was carried out the killers could not be identified.
