Srinagar, May 16: The Srinagar District Congress Committee on Friday welcomed dozens of prominent political and social activists from various areas into the party fold, describing the development as a significant step that reflects full faith and trust in the Congress’s pro-people policies and programs.
Srinagar District Congress Committee President Irfan Naqib and JKPCC Media Coordinator Dr Audil Farooq Mir (Lasjan) warmly welcomed the new members and expressed hope that they will work tirelessly to strengthen the Congress in their respective areas and serve the public to the best of their abilities.
Among those who joined the party were M Arif Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad Wani, Mohd Ramzan, Gh Qadir Zargar, Pervez Ahmad Parray, Nazir Ahmad Dar, G M Sheikh, Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, Jan Mohd Najar, Altaf Hussain Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, Tariq Ahmad Sofi, Mudasir Ahmad Mir, Gh. Nabi Ganai, and others, a statement issued here said.
Speaking on the occasion, Irfan Naqib congratulated the new entrants and urged them to work vigorously for public welfare, noting that the people have high expectations from the Congress, which has always respected their urges and aspirations.
Naqib highlighted the strengthening position of the Congress in J&K under the leadership of JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, describing him as a strong leader with vast knowledge of the socio-political landscape and the ability to address various challenges faced by the party.
He condemned the activities of some undesired elements in districts, especially in north Kashmir, who have been attempting to create confusion since Thursday under the pretext of visiting shelling-affected areas for their own publicity.
“Congress is resilient like a sea, unaffected by such misadventures, and advised these elements to focus on their political careers, which he warned may diminish due to their actions that are against the party’s principles,” Naqib said. He called for strict disciplinary action against those damaging the party for their vested interests.
Dr Audil Farooq Mir directed the new members to identify key public issues in their areas and actively engage with the administration for their resolution. He called for organising block-level meetings across Srinagar district to boost the morale of party cadres.
Youth Leader Er Danish Reshi and other party leaders praised the leadership qualities of JKPCC Chief Tariq Karra and encouraged the new entrants to uphold the party’s values and work for the community’s welfare.
