Srinagar, May 03: The department of physical education and sports of government degree college Ganderbal Saturday organised Annual College Road Race for Boys and Girls as part of its annual sports activities. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various semesters, showcasing their athletic spirit and commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
The race for boys began at College gate to Thuroo, Dangerpora, Tulmulla and then return back to college covering a distance of 10 kms approximately while as girls race started from Tulmulla bus stand and finished at College gate covering a distance of 5 kms. The participants demonstrated commendable endurance and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Principal of the college, Prof Fouzia Fatima flagged off the race for boys and girls and appreciated the efforts of the Physical Education Department in promoting physical fitness and organizing such events the encourage student participation in extracurricular activities. Following the conclusion of the race, a valedictory function was held in the college to honour the participants and winners. The event began with a welcome address by the Convener Sports Committee who congratulated all participants for their spirited involvement. Principal, Prof Fouzia Fatima presided over the function as the chief guest and awarded a cash prize of Rs 2500 to the winner of the race in both the categories and distributed trophies, medals and certificates to the next 10position holders. In her address, she emphasized the importance of such events in overall personality development and encouraged students to participate actively in future activities. The proceedings of the event was conducted by Sakhira Bashir and Heena Yousuf of second semester.
