Anantnag, Apr 24: “This is not the time to get involved in the schemes of the enemy. Some people are trying to give it a colour of individualism and religion. If you do that, you are only strengthening the plans of our enemies,” said Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma.
Sharma, who serves as the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, visited GMC Anantnag on Thursday along with MLA Anantnag West, Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larmi), to enquire about the health of those injured in the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma said, “I met one of the injured, a man from Gujarat, and his condition is stable. We also spoke to the injured tourist from Tamil Nadu, and he too is out of danger. I believe our doctors are capable and have done a commendable job in saving lives.”
He strongly condemned what he referred to as “the atrocities committed by our enemy country, Pakistan,” and called for national unity. “I want to see the entire country—including the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the youth—stand shoulder to shoulder with the Government of India,” he said.
“This is the first time that we have seen in Kashmir that youth have taken to the streets with black banners, expressing solidarity with our armed forces and vowing to eliminate terrorism.”
Referring to a local youth named Adil, who reportedly tried to snatch weapons from terrorists and was subsequently killed, Sharma said, “We are heartbroken by his sacrifice, but we stand with his courage. We are united with his family and the people of Kashmir in this hour of grief.”
Reiterating that the Government of India and the J&K government are working in unison, Sharma warned against falling into the trap of divisive narratives. “Some are trying to add a communal and religious angle to this tragedy. If we fall for that, we are helping Pakistan. We must not let that happen.”
He expressed complete faith in the security establishment, saying that a strong and befitting response will be given. “There are hidden forces that don’t want to see India rise. They are trying to create communal tensions. But the people of India have seen worse and emerged stronger. We must maintain peace and unity. Jammu and Kashmir is our crown, and we will not let the agenda of our enemies succeed.”
