Srinagar July 16: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Rather on Sunday visited Pahalgam and took a detailed tour of healthcare facilities put up for the ongoing Amarnath yatra.
A spokesperson of DHSK said the director visited Nunwan Base Camp, Pahalgam and Chandanwari hospitals. The director was accompanied with Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Dr M. Y Zagoo, Block Medical Officer Sallar, Nodal Officers of yatra and other officers and officials of the health department.
The director health services interacted with patients admitted to these facilities and inquired about the facilities being provided to them. He also interacted with doctors and paramedics who have debuted for yatra from different parts of the country.
The director directed to provide the best possible health care to yatris and ensure that the doctors and paramedical staff on duty are also made comfortable.
It was informed that this year the healthcare facilities have been further improved with the result of which causalities associated with yatra have declined.
The health department in Kashmir has prioritized the conduct of Amarnath Yatra. Officials associated with the yatra said a concerted effort has been made to make all possible efforts to reduce causalities and to make the annual yatra a safe and secure journey for the pilgrims.
Notably, this year, a total of 55 medical stations have been set up by the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir en route to Amarnath Yatra both at Pahalgam and Baltal side.
All the healthcare facilities in the vicinity of transit routes have adequate emergency response systems in place including adequate manpower round-the-clock.
Further, tertiary care facilities like SKIMS Soura, SKIMS Bemina, Govt. Medical Colleges remain in ready mode for handling any referral cases during the yatra period.
