H&ME to make high-end diagnostics available in new GMCs

Srinagar, Apr 08: The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department has informed the house that the department plans to make high-end diagnostics available in all new Govt. Medical Colleges (GMCs) in a phased manner.
The information was shared in the Legislative Assembly in response to a starred question by MLA Iftikhar Ahmad concerning the various issues of GMC Rajouri.
In response to a query on status of proposal to upgrade MRI and Cath Lab facilities at GMC Rajouri, the reply said the department plans to make high-end diagnostics available in all new GMCs in a phased manner including GMC Rajouri adding that the Cath Lab is prioritized for GMC Rajouri for FY 2025-26.
The reply stated that in GMC Rajouri, there are 32 sanctioned posts for Associate Professors, with 18 currently in position. The reply said for the post of Lecturer (Blood Bank) in GMC Rajouri, one position is sanctioned and currently filled.
The reply revealed that in GMC Rajouri, there are 267 sanctioned Gazetted posts, of which 128 are filled and 139 are vacant, while for Non-Gazetted/Multitasking Staff (MTS) posts, the sanctioned strength is 532, with 293 in position and 239 vacant.
The house was informed that doctors and 65 non-gazetted staff are posted against sanctioned strength of 19 and 109 respectively in the PHCs and Sub Centres of Rajouri Constituency. It added that to supplement the existing staff strength, 08 Doctors and 70 Paramedicals are engaged under NHM.
Besides, in the month of November 2024, 365 number of selectees were appointed as Medical Officers in the J&K Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Services. Few out of these medical officers have been posted in the far-flung/peripheral health institutes of District Rajouri to further strengthen the medical/healthcare facilities at the grass root level.
The Department is also in the process of operating a wait list for 91 selected medical officers, whose services will also be utilized in the underserved areas across the UT of J&K.
Besides, 181 numbers of posts of Medical Officers are still to be received from Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. Upon receiving the selections, the selected doctors will be posted at the health institutions experiencing staff shortage.
Additionally, 292 vacancies in the Non-Gazetted/paramedical category from the Directorate of Family Welfare, MCH and Immunization have also been referred to the JKSSB for recruitment.
Also, 290 vacancies in the Non-Gazetted/Paramedical category from the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu have also been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board for recruitment. Upon receiving the selections, the selectees will be posted at the health institutions experiencing staff shortage.
