Kulgam, Mar 19: Health and Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that District Hospital (DH) Kulgam will be affiliated with Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag to enhance patient care in the region. She added that all promises made to the people will be fulfilled.
Addressing a gathering in Damhal-Hanjipora on the 31st death anniversary of her father, late Wali Mohammad Itoo, she paid tribute to his dedication to public service. She recalled that despite holding a master’s degree and working as a teacher, he left his job to serve the people of Noorabad and became an advocate for basic amenities.
Taking a swipe at those responsible for Jammu and Kashmir’s bifurcation, Itoo said, “Our state was an old and historic one. Who divided it into two parts? The people of Jammu and Kashmir will never forgive them.”
The minister also spoke about the recent elections, saying, “Many said there would never be elections here, but when Allah willed it, and when the people of Jammu and Kashmir quietly brought about a revolution, they gave power to the National Conference.”
Reaffirming her party’s commitment, she added, “National Conference stands with the people and is accountable to them. We have promised to work tirelessly and bring about change. All promises made will be fulfilled in due time. In just five months, the government has done what was possible, and the rest will follow in five years.”
Announcing a major healthcare initiative, Sakina declared, “We will affiliate District Hospital Kulgam with GMC Anantnag so that it remains functional 24 hours a day. This will ensure that the people of Kulgam receive better treatment here.”
