Jammu, March 18: The government Tuesday said that no road or bridge projects under the NABARD Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) have been sanctioned for the Public Works (R&B) Department, including the R&B division Kangan, for the financial year 2024-25.
This information was revealed in response to a query raised by legislator Mehar Ali in the Legislative Assembly. Ali sought reply from the government as to whether NABARD-sanctioned projects for Kangan had been dropped and, if so, the reasons behind it. The government’s written reply, however, categorically stated that no such projects had been approved in the first place.
Despite this, the response included an assurance that due priority would be given to infrastructure projects in the Kangan R&B division in future allocations. The absence of sanctioned projects has sparked concerns among residents and public representatives in Kangan, who had been anticipating road and bridge upgrades under the central funding scheme. The MLA Kangan urged government to reconsider Kangan’s infrastructure needs and ensure its inclusion in upcoming funding cycles.
