Jammu, Mar 17: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday informed that it will seek to fill 13 lecturer positions in the schools of the Jammu West Constituency while the Department of School Education plans to address the vacant posts through appropriate rationalization, the deployment of Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRCs), and by facilitating promotions.

In response to a question posed by MLA Arvind Gupta during the Assembly session, the minister responsible for school education stated that the School Education Department is undertaking various initiatives under the Samagra Shiksha program. These initiatives focus on enhancing the infrastructure of schools in the Jammu West Constituency, including the construction of classrooms, kitchens, toilets, and science laboratories, as well as ensuring access to drinking water facilities. A proposal for the construction of kitchen sheds is being submitted to the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the PM POSHAN Scheme by the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha.

The minister further elaborated that for the schools in Jammu West Constituency, three civil works have been proposed under the Samagra Shiksha Annual Work Plan & Budget (AWP&B) and two projects under the UT CAFEX Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.

Additionally, the School Education Department plans to establish IT Labs in schools. Under the Vocational Education initiative, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs are already operational in most schools within the Jammu District. In the Jammu West Constituency, ICT labs have been set up in 22 middle, high, and higher secondary schools, with plans to expand to the remaining schools in a phased approach. Furthermore, smart classrooms have been established in 18 schools within the constituency.

Language labs are also set to be established in schools approved for upgrades under the PM SHRI Scheme during the 2025-26 academic year, with plans for further expansion to additional schools.

Over the past three years, funding has been allocated for the purchase of sports equipment in schools within the Jammu West constituency, with Rs. 25,000 designated for higher secondary schools, Rs. 10,000 for middle schools, and Rs. 5,000 for primary schools.
