Srinagar, Mar 15:
The issue of the Cabinet sub-committee on reservation is being politicized, and if Sajad Lone were serious, he wouldn’t have been absent when his assembly question was to be raised, said the Minister for Social Welfare.
Sakina Itoo, the Cabinet Minister, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday evening, stating, “The issue of the Cabinet sub-committee on reservation is being politicized. If Sajad Lone was serious, he wouldn’t have been absent on the day his assembly question was to be raised.”
She added, “Had he been present, he would have received the answer in the supplementary—that while the initial order lacks a timeline, the Honourable Chief Minister later set a timeline of six months. The committee will submit its report within this timeline.”
Earlier, in a written response to Sajad Lone’s starred question in the assembly, the Minister for Social Welfare had stated that while the Cabinet sub-committee has been formed, there is no specified timeframe for submitting the report on reservation rules.
The tweet came after the issue was widely criticized, prompting the Minister to provide further clarification on the set timeline for the reservation rules.
