Srinagar, 13 Mar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said that mobile connectivity in Karnah, including villages like Nachyian, Badwan, Shamspora, Nawagabra, and Mandiyian, is operational with 4G coverage.
In a written reply to a question by MLA Javid Ahmad Mirchal in the Assembly, the Information Technology Department clarified that mobile connectivity falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Communication, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.
The government said that Nichian, Shamspora (Hapat Khamni), Badwan, and Nawagabra have both 2G and 4G coverage, while Mandiyian has full 4G connectivity. Despite concerns raised about poor network quality, the government did not mention any immediate plans for upgrading mobile services in these areas.
The issue of improving network quality in Karnah will need to be taken up with the Government of India, as mobile services are managed at the Central level. However, the J&K government assured that it remains committed to address connectivity concerns in remote areas.
