Srinagar, March 07: Schools in Kashmir reopened on Friday after a closure of nearly three months due to winter vacations. The return to school was met with enthusiasm throughout the Kashmir Valley.

Originally, the schools were set to resume on March 1; however, the government decided to extend the break by an additional week due to adverse weather conditions.

Officials reported that approximately 10,000 government and privately recognized schools across the Kashmir Valley reopened on March 7, resuming their academic programs.

The Minister for Education, Sakina Itoo, conveyed her best wishes to both students and teachers on this occasion of school reopening.

In her official statement, X Handler Sakina expressed, “As Winter Zone students join their schools after winter break, I wish them success for the session and future. I appreciate support from all stakeholders, especially the teaching fraternity to make it a memorable, successful year. Best wishes to all!”.

Dua Jan, a student from Srinagar City, expressed to Rising Kashmir her excitement about returning to school after a three-month hiatus. She stated that the first day was filled with joy as she reunited with her friends and teachers after a 90-days.

“The teachers at our school also celebrated the reopening, marking it as a welcoming occasion that made my day even more enjoyable,” she remarked.

Mehvish Khan, a female student from the Kupwara district, stated that the teachers at her school distributed gifts to the students as they entered the school premises.

“On the inaugural day of school, the students shared their vacation experiences with the teacher, fellow students, and friends,” she said.
