Srinagar, Feb 28: National Conference (NC) General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar on Friday asked the administration to make necessary arrangements in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
Sagar in a statement emphasised the need for a detailed action plan from concerned departments to ensure the availability of essential commodities, electricity, water, sanitation, cleanliness and transport facilities during Ramadan.
He specifically called for the scheduled power supply, especially during Sehri and Iftari times. He urged the Public Health Engineering Department to proactively ensure an adequate supply of drinking water during these crucial times.
The MLA asked the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) to ensure the timely distribution of essentials such as ration and LPG to consumers. He called for joint market checks to prevent profiteering and hoarding of essential items, as well as to maintain the quality and standards of food products.
Sagar directed the district Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, AD FCS&CA/Food Safety Officer, Tehsildars, and BDOs to inspect the quality of chicken, meat, and other daily consumable items to prevent any adulteration in markets. He urged authorities to conduct sanitation and cleanliness drives in all areas, particularly around shrines and mosques to ensure proper hygiene.
