Dr. Darakhshan reviews Ramadhan preparedness

Srinagar, Feb 27: In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan, Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi chaired a high-level meeting in Srinagar on Thursday. The meeting brought together representatives from various government departments, Waqf Board officials, and prominent Imams and Khateebs from across the Valley to ensure smooth arrangements for the holy month.
During the discussions, a comprehensive action plan was formulated, with Dr. Andrabi emphasising the need for close coordination between different departments to facilitate worshippers. She directed officials to work in harmony to ensure all necessary arrangements, including sanitation, water supply, medical facilities, and traffic management, are in place for the convenience of the public. The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including–SP North Srinagar, Hilal Ahmad Bhat, Dy SP, Barleen Kour, SHO Nigeen, Showkat Ahmad, Medical Officer, Dr. Ghulam Hassan, Assistant Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Mohd Yousuf Sanitary Officer, Gh Mustafa Traffic Police Representative, Mohd Ashraf Executive Magistrate, Waqf Board, Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin Executive Engineer, Waqf Board Prominent Imams and Khateebs from across the Valley. Dr. Andrabi highlighted the significant role of Imams and Khateebs during Ramadhan, urging them to use their daily sermons to promote piousness, unity, and harmony among the people.
Following the meeting, Dr. Andrabi led a new mat-laying ceremony at the Dargah Annexe, marking the completion of renovation work at the shrine. She reiterated the Waqf Board’s commitment to the restoration and upkeep of religious sites, announcing that renovation efforts will continue across J&K in the coming months. The meeting underscored the importance of seamless arrangements for Ramadhan, ensuring that devotees across Jammu and Kashmir can observe the holy month with peace and devotion.
