Srinagar, Feb 7: Panun Kashmir and Youth for Panun Kashmir have vehemently rejected Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s recent statement where he claimed that “trust-building” is a prerequisite for the return of Kashmiri Pandits. The organisations condemned Mirwaiz’s remarks as “deceptive and manipulative.”
Mirwaiz in an exclusive interview with Rising Kashmir, in reply to a query about KP’s return had stated that “re-building trust comes first.” However, Panun Kashmir and Youth for Panun Kashmir, in a statement said that the “genocide of KPs” was not caused by the ‘trust deficit’ but a “systematic campaign”. Digamber Raina, General Secretary, Youth for Panun Kashmir in a statement termed Mirwaiz’s assertions as “an attempt to mislead the public.” “Mirwaiz never condemned the atrocities, nor did he seek justice for the victims. He has no moral authority to speak on our return,” Raina said.
Panun Kashmir reaffirmed that KPs will not return on the terms set by those who “orchestrated and celebrated their genocide.” It demanded an official recognition of the Kashmiri Pandit genocide by the Government of India, a Tribunal to prosecute those responsible for crimes against Kashmiri Hindus and a separate UT to ensure the safe and dignified return of Kashmiri Hindus under a secure political framework.
