Ganderbal, Jan 31: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) faculty members, research scholars and students, led by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath accorded a warm send off to Prof. Wali Mohammad Shah, Dean, School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, Director DIQA and Head Department of Mathematics, on attaining the age of superannuation.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, highlighted the significant contributions made by Prof. Wali Mohammad Shah in the academic growth and progress of the university, his parent department (and other departments) and the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA). Prof. Shah played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of the Department of Mathematics and also ensured that the varsity is fully geared up for the NAAC visit, CUKashmir Vice-Chancellor said. He said the function has been organised to celebrate the accomplishments of Prof. Wali Muhammad Shah.
In his address, Prof. Wali Muhammad Shah thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath and faculty members for organizing the farewell function and their love and affection. He described his stint in the CUK as a memorable one and thanked all the functionaries for their unflinching support and cooperation during his tenure.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, said that Prof. Shah’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovative teaching methods, and passion for fostering a conducive learning environment have left an indelible mark on research scholars, students and faculty members. Prof. Shah’s vision and initiatives have propelled the department to new heights, earning it recognition for academic excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, described Prof.Wali Mohammad Shah as a humble and soft spoken academician, under whose guidance and leadership, the Department of Mathematics witnessed remarkable advancements in research, curriculum development, and academic collaborations. He added that Prof. Shah’s legacy will continue to inspire the faculty members.
Head Department of Management Studies, Prof. Abdul Gani, Dean School of Legal Studies, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean School of Life Sciences, Prof. Abid Hamid Dar, I/c Dean School of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Mohammad Yousuf, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Shah, and other faculty members, also shared their personal experiences of working with Prof. Wali Muhammad Shah and said the colleagues and students will fondly remember his lectures and tireless guidance.
