Drug Destruction Campaign Week: Ganderbal police destroy drugs worth 15.85 lakh

Ganderbal, Jan 23: As part of the “Drug Destruction Campaign Week” initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the District Police Ganderbal conducted a mass disposal drive of seized drugs. Under the guidance of SSP Ganderbal, the District Level Drug Disposal Committee destroyed a significant quantity of contraband and psychotropic substances.

The seized drugs, linked to 14 cases in district Ganderbal, were disposed of through incineration at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora. Proper permissions were obtained from the competent court before disposal. The cumulative value of the destroyed substances is estimated at Rs. 15,85,000.

The process was conducted under the supervision of Dy.SP DAR Ganderbal, with a magistrate present to oversee the operation.

This initiative is a major step in District Police Ganderbal’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse and ensuring a safer, drug-free society. Authorities have reiterated their resolve to continue efforts to combat drug abuse and create a healthier environment for the community.

 

 

Police arrest three drug peddlers

Contraband substances recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Kulgam & Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Police team of Police Station Yaripora at a checkpoint established at Kokergund Crossing, Humshali bugh intercepted a person roaming in suspicious condition. He has been identified as Faizan Ahmad Dar son of Nafeez Ahmad Dar resident of Brazloo Jagir. During search, 2.087 grams of Heroin like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.

In Awantipora, a police party of Police Post Toll Plaza headed by Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora at a checkpoint established near Chersoo Crossing intercepted a vehicle (load Carrier) bearing registration number JK13H- 8415 with 02 persons onboard. During search, 1.2 Kgs of grinded Cannabis-like substance was recovered from their possession. Vehicles used in the commission of crime has also been seized. They have been identified as Arshid Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Gulshanabad Rajpora Pulwama & Shakir Ahmad Ganie son of Fayaz Ahmad Ganie resident of Gulshanabad Rajpora Pulwama.

All the accused have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
