Kulgam, Jan 16: A three-day training program on the preparation of “Nutri-Mix Formula for Lactating and Pregnant Women” was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kulgam.
An official said that the training program was organized by JK NRLM in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension, SKUAST Kashmir. Thirty women from across Kulgam, representing eight blocks, participated in the training.
“During the program, eight theoretical lectures and eight practical sessions were conducted by the scientists of the Kendra. The trainees were provided with technological knowledge about the preparation of various Nutri-Mix dishes and their significance for the health and well-being of lactating and pregnant women,” the official said.
Dr. Manzoor A. Ganai, Professor and Head of KVK Kulgam, said that the dishes prepared during the training included chickpea bars, an affordable and nutrient-rich snack for lactating and pregnant women.
He said that the participants also learned to prepare various nutrient-dense food items such as vegetable premixes, pulse premixes, and edible seed mixes.
The program was virtually inaugurated on January 14 by Vice Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai. The inaugural session was attended by Mission Director JK NRLM, Dr. Shubra Sharma, along with district coordinators of JK NRLM from various districts. Dr Shahid Ahmad, Dr Ab Shakoor and Dr HU Rehman coordinated the three days training program at KVK Kulgam.
