Al Buraq Foundation an NGO of Srinagar on Monday successfully organized the Chilla-e- Kalan Festival at Sher-e-Kashmir Park, Srinagar in collaboration with 10 BN SSB. The event brought together art, culture and community spirit to celebrate the region’s rich heritage.
The festival aimed to promote local traditions, showcase regional talent, and provide a platform for creative expression. It featured a range of activities, including: Medical Civic Action Program – A medical camp was set up by 10 Bn SSB Srinagar (J&K) for festival visitors. Dr. Arun Chaudhary, Assistant Commandant (Medical Officer) along with other medical staff from 10 Bn SSB, conducted health check-ups for local residents and distributed free common medicines. Discussions and Awareness Campaigns- Women visitors were encouraged to join CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces). Additionally, deliberations were held on topics such as “Nasha Mukt Bharat”, “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, and environmental conservation to create awareness among attendees. Cultural Performances- Traditional music and dance performances showcased the vibrant cultural identity of the region. The festival was graced by the presence of huge local community, enthusiastic participants from across the region.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Nafeesa, President of the NGO, stated, “The Chillai Kalam Festival celebrates the essence of our heritage and brings the community together. It is a testament to the resilience and creativity of our people.” She also emphasized the crucial role played by the 10 Bn SSB Srinagar (J&K) in ensuring the event’s success by mobilizing resources and promoting inclusivity.
Dalbir Singh, Second-In-Command and Officiating Commandant of 10 Bn SSB, thanked all attendees, volunteers, and sponsors for their support in making the festival a grand success. He also expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to strengthen community bonds and preserve the cultural fabric of the region.
