JAMMU, Dec 25: General Upendra Dwivedi and all ranks of the Indian Army expressed profound grief on Wednesday over the tragic death of five jawans in an accident at Poonch on Tuesday.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X,’ the Indian Army extended its deepest condolences, offering support to the bereaved families. “We express profound grief on the loss of five jawans,” the statement read.
The soldiers who tragically lost their lives in the accident while on operational duty were identified as Subedar Tirakannavar, Lance Havildar Anoop, Naik Ghadge Shubham Samadhan, Sepoy Digamber, and Sepoy Mahesh Marigond.
The incident occurred in the Mendhar area of Poonch district in Jammu, where the jawans were performing their duties in the Poonch Sector. In addition to the five fatalities, five other soldiers were injured in the accident.
