Kahra, Nov 06: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised a sensitization programme for Gram Panchayats Sarpanch and Secretary at the Block Development Office Kahra in district Doda. The initiative was aimed at raising awareness among Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) about various standards and markings.
The programme, led by BIS Resource Person Raja Amir Karim, was conducted under the directives of BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) Director Tilak Raj. Sarpanches and Panchayat secretaries from different Panchayats in Block Kahra participated, gaining insights into the purpose and significance of such campaigns.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the informative session, highlighting its relevance to their daily lives. Sarpanch Malanoo Zafrullah Maray praised the BIS for organising the unique and fruitful programme.
Zafrullah said he has attended many programmes in the past but this one was unique and fruitful. “I congratulate BIS for holding this programme and making us aware of ISI marking, hallmarking and other things,” he added.
As a gesture of appreciation, the BIS Resource Person presented the Indian National Flag, symbolising the standards upheld by BIS, to BDO Kahra Shabir Ahmed.
