Meanwhile, urban areas enjoyed 21.7 hours of daily power supply, compared to 22.5 hours in the previous year, he said.
The Minister said that the improvement is a result of various central schemes, including Saubhagya Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) which have helped expand and upgrade power distribution infrastructure, especially in remote areas of the Union Territory.
To address the challenges posed by hilly terrains and extreme weather, the government implemented innovative solutions like portable substations, prefabricated structures, and advanced technologies such as GIS mapping and drones for project execution, he said.
He also said that specialized training programs for workers ensured effective implementation in difficult areas. off-grid solar solutions have electrified remote households under Saubhagya.
The Minister said that 4.17 lakh households across India, including 168 in Ladakh were provided solar-powered electricity during the scheme’s tenure.
He said that the government is committed to consistent efforts to provide 24×7 power supply to all, as mandated under the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020.
