Srinagar, Dec 05: The Institute of Business and Policy Research (IBPR), SKUAST-Kashmir, organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Program titled “Self-Employment Opportunities in Agriculture and Allied Sectors” on 4th December 2024 at Srinagar Women’s College, Batpora.
The program aimed to inspire and educate participants about entrepreneurial prospects in agriculture, horticulture, and allied sectors. Dr. Abid Sultan, Organizing Secretary and Scientist at IBPR, underscored the workshop’s vision to ignite an entrepreneurial spirit among participants by showcasing the vast self-employment opportunities available in agriculture and allied sectors.
He explained that the goal was not just to inform but to inspire, illustrating how these sectors can be the foundation for sustainable and profitable businesses. He stressed that the future of self-employment lies in leveraging agriculture creatively and with a well-nurtured entrepreneurial mindset among the youth.
Prof. S. H. Baba, Head of IBPR, emphasized that agriculture extends far beyond cultivation and is a sector rich with opportunities for value addition, technology integration, and market expansion. He highlighted the importance of equipping young minds with entrepreneurial skills to transform challenges into opportunities, driving economic growth. Prof. Baba called for collective efforts to establish a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem that fosters growth, sustainability, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof. Syed Iffat Ara, Principal of Srinagar Women’s College, Batpora, praised IBPR, SKUAST-Kashmir, for organizing such collaborative entrepreneurial initiatives. She described the workshop as a significant effort to uncover the untapped potential of agriculture and allied sectors as viable avenues for self-employment. Prof. Ara noted that in a time when innovation and entrepreneurship are crucial, such programs play a pivotal role in equipping participants with the confidence and knowledge to explore these opportunities. She expressed optimism that the program would inspire attendees to take bold steps toward self-reliance and sustainable development in agriculture and allied industries.
The program was moderated by Ms. Arijmand Shahid and concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Bhat.
