Jammu, Nov 23: Apni Party provincial president Jammu, S. Manjit Singh on Saturday demanded regularisation of all the daily wagers. He expressed serious concern over the unprecedented rise in unemployment among the educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per a press release, a meeting was organised here at the Party Office, Gandhi Nagar to discuss organisational structure and take a review of the political scenario. The party leaders expressed their concern over the plight of the educated, who are still unemployed in J&K and the job prospects for the youth have reduced to almost nil.
“The unemployed youth have become overaged in absence of the government jobs as the J&K government has yet to advertise the vacant posts to the recruitment agencies,” Singh said. “It appears that the government is unaware of the growing unemployment among the youth in J&K.”
The party believes that a comprehensive employment policy for the unemployed youth can be framed to redress the issues, he said, extending support to the protesting JKPSI aspirants.
Opposing employment to the outsider in the government sector, the Apni Party leader said the local unemployed youth should be provided employment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Manjit discussed the issues of daily wagers, demanding their regularisation. “These daily wagers have become the backbone of every department, and they do work 24/7, during peak hours. However, the government has not decided anything about their fate. The party believes that they shall be regularised, and minimum wage act should be implemented in J&K,” he said.
The Apni Party leader added, “More than 61000 daily wagers have been working in various government departments for the last 20-25 years. However, their salaries are being irregularly released. The wages of the daily wagers should be streamlined and released regularly.”
The party leaders also discussed the organisational issues. Singh issued certain directions to the leaders to reach out to the people and prepare for the upcoming Panchayati Elections in J&K.
Prominent among those who were present in the meeting include Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, Ex-MLA Prem Lal, Arun Chibber, Saleem Alam, Ajaz Kazmi, Bhagat Ram, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, Vishal Narania, Abhay Bakaya, Raman Thappa, Harpreet Singh, Vaibhav Mattoo, Neelam Gupta, Deepak Bradu, Vijay Gurtoo, Vishal Jotshi, Rashid Paul, Balbir Singh, Tirath Singh, Chand Ji Bhat, G.L. Pandita, Bushan Lal Bhat, and others.
