Anantnag, Nov 14: The Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at ensuring comprehensive access to welfare schemes in tribal areas, will kick off in Anantnag on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, said that the program seeks to achieve 100 percent inclusion, leaving no deserving tribal beneficiary excluded from any government scheme.
Addressing a press conference, DC Anantnag said the initiative encompasses various government schemes, including Housing for All, sanitation, self-employment, and projects under the Tribal Department and Ministry of Tribal Affairs. ”
“Through a holistic approach and convergence across departments, this initiative will ensure that every eligible individual in our tribal villages benefits from these schemes,” he said.
The campaign was launched nationwide by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In Anantnag, activities will run from November 15th on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary freedom fighter and tribal leader of the country, with a formal inauguration scheduled at the Municipal Town Hall.
“The first step is creating awareness,” DC Anantnag said, adding that officials will visit tribal hamlets, engage with locals to inform them about the scheme, and gather feedback.
A unique aspect of Anantnag’s campaign is the addition of a homestay registration stall, in line with the Ministry of Tourism’s guidelines. The administration will accept homestay applications, helping residents leverage their existing infrastructure to attract tourism. “This will boost tourism in our tribal areas, bringing economic benefits to these communities,” he said.
The initiative will involve 17 ministries and 25 departments, with officials setting up stalls to provide information and facilitate registration for various schemes. “Our goal is to ensure no eligible beneficiary is left behind,” DC added, urging locals to participate actively and raise awareness about the program’s schedule.
The DAJGUA campaign in Anantnag will also see public representatives and officials collaborating to reach saturation for the entire tribal population, ensuring that every deserving individual benefits from the program.
