Jammu, Nov 11: The prestigious high-tech health institute, AIIMS, at Vijaypur in Jammu, will soon be upgraded to seven hundred and fifty bedded hospital.
The Jammu AIIMS was made functional around 4 months back with OPD services being provided initially. The hospital started with 100 beds after which the bed strength of the hospital was increased to 250 beds.
Now, the proposal has been submitted by the concerned authorities before the union health ministry to make Jammu AIIMS as a 750 bedded hospital.
“We have given the proposal and the government has approved to increase the bed strength of AIIMS to 750 beds,” Director, Vijaipur AIIMS, Dr Shakti Gupta informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “The work in this regard has been started and within 6 months, the AIIMS will be made 750 bedded and health services with high-tech machines/equipment will also be augmented”.
There are 28 functional departments at Jammu AIIMS which have been providing quality health services to the people. Nine (9) counters have been set up and the cost of the OPD ticket is nominal at Rs 10.
The Jammu AIIMS is the first fully digitized hospital of the country and will be the first hospital in J&K offering all services and information of the patients online.
The 750 bedded AIIMS at Jammu was estimated to be completed with a cost of Rs 1661 cr however, the cost escalation has now gone upto more than Rs 1800 cr.
