Srinagar, Oct 27: Senior vice president of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress, G N Monga on Sunday visited the grieving families of two army porters who tragically lost their lives in a terror attack in Botapathri Gulmarg on Thursday.
He was accompanied by Congress district Baramulla president Irshad Budoo and other senior leaders and workers. Monga expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary and Zahoor Ahmad Mir. He hailed their immense sacrifice while serving the nation. Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary hailed from Hundi-Nowshera in Uri, while Zahoor Ahmad Mir was from Barnate-Boniya in Uri.
During the visit, Monga army porters play a critical role in supporting military operations, often at great personal risk. He urged the government to provide compensation to the families of the slain porters in accordance with army norms, saying their work is essential to national security and deserves recognition.
“These brave individuals were not merely porters but vital contributors to the efforts of the armed forces, and their sacrifice warrants proper acknowledgement and support from the authorities,” the Congress leader said.
