Jammu, Oct 25: Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Friday extended a warm and rousing reception to Surinder Choudhary, the newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister, during his visit to Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here.
In this connection, a public meeting was organised at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in which Ajay Sadhotra, Additional General Secretary JKNC and former Minister; Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC and other senior leaders and party workers were present.
Gupta delivered the welcome address, congratulating Surinder Choudhary on his appointment. He said, “The past decade has been challenging for the people of J&K, with the state being bifurcated into two union territories and there was no popular government to address the concerns of the common man. Now, with the National Conference heading the government, we are committed to resolving the issues faced by the public and ensuring stability.”
Sadhotra praised the leadership of Surinder Choudhary and the commitment of the National Conference to restore the dignity and development of Jammu and Kashmir. He called for a unified approach to tackle the challenges facing the region and expressed confidence in the new government’s ability to deliver on its promises.
Surinder Choudhary, addressing the gathering, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to the people of J&K. He assured, “The National Conference Government will fulfill all the promises outlined in our manifesto. We will work tirelessly to restore the priorities set by the Omar Abdullah-led government and revive the state’s development.”
Choudhary also emphasised the importance of resuming the Darbar Move, a bi-annual tradition that connects the regions of Jammu and Kashmir, saying that it is essential for reviving the economy of Jammu. “Resuming the Darbar Move will not only ensure administrative efficiency but also stimulate local businesses and industries,” he said.
