Ramban, Nov 22: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader and District president Ramban, Mir Sajjad Shaheen carried out a two-day extensive tour to Sarachi, Bajmasta and Sumar, the remote villages in Banihal constituency.
During his visit to these villages, the locals apprised him about the erratic power supply, scarcity of drinking water, shortage of staff in educational institutions and health care centres besides dilapidated condition of roads in their villages, Sajjad said.
He said people also demanded the construction of health centre buildings at Sarachi, Tanka and Sumar, 250 KVA transformer at Sarachi besides removing the bottlenecks which have caused delays in the construction of Sarachi road as the village lacks road connectivity causing immense suffering to the local villagers particularly patients and school going children.
Shaheen said that Khari-Mahu -Mahu road, Banihal-Mangit road and Digdol-Bajmasta-Sumar road are in bad shape and need improvement and upgradation as the dilapidated roads have added to the miseries of the people.
He also expressed deep concern over the power crisis in Banihal, Gool and its peripheral areas and said that unscheduled power cuts have aggravated the woes of people in the entire district particularly in remote and far-flung villages. He said that the unscheduled and frequent power cuts continue unabated and people are facing massive inconvenience due to power cuts.
The NC leader has urged the district administration to take immediate cognizance of these serious public issues as these are of utmost importance for the large number of local population living in these far-flung villages. He has appealed to the administration to review the stock and supply position of essential commodities and ensure ration, Cooking gas and Kerosene oil in all remote villages of district Ramban and Gool.
