Baramulla/Srinagar, Oct 14: To interact with the newly enrolled students of the North Campus, University of Kashmir (KU), Delina, Baramulla and to focus on the amenities and facilities available to them, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, Monday visited the campus and reviewed the services and programmes being offered to the student community.
During her visit, Prof Khan inaugurated a research lab at the Department of Botany and also interacted with the faculty and coordinators of various departments discussing ways to enhance the quality of education and address any challenges faced by the faculty and students.
She urged the students to work in a team for making the campus green, clean and conducive for a vibrant and stimulated research environment.
She also inaugurated the Girls’ Hostel, North Campus, Lower Delina marking her maiden visit to the hostel where she took stock of the amenities available to the residents.
On the occasion, Prof Nilofer Khan said: “The university is committed to providing a conducive learning environment that encourages both academic excellence and holistic development. The new research lab will open up more avenues for innovative research, particularly in areas that can have a significant impact on society.”
She assured to develop more infrastructure in order to suffice the needs of the increased admissions in various newly introduced courses in Botany, Computer Science and Engineering.
“Make the most of the opportunities available and the administration will continue to support and enhance the facilities across all the satellite campuses,” she reiterated.
KU Registrar, Prof Naseer Iqbal, emphasised the importance of ongoing upgrades to the campus infrastructure while suggesting to execute the construction of fabricated structures for Engineering, Management Studies, English and Computer Sciences departments.
“The North Campus has consistently demonstrated growth and we remain committed to furthering this trajectory,” he said, while advising students to stay in the campus hostel in order to save their daily commutation time.
He also stressed the importance of student feedback in guiding KU’s developmental plans.
Director, North Campus, Dr Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, highlighted the role of the new research lab in encouraging a culture of curiosity and innovation among students.
“The Vice Chancellor’s visit is an encouraging gesture for both the faculty and the students, reaffirming KU’s support for academic initiatives and infrastructure development at the North Campus,” he said adding that the Vice Chancellor’s visit, especially to the girls’ hostel, underscores the varsity’s focus on ensuring student welfare.
The visit was marked by a series of activities, including an event on drug de-addiction. The event also featured a prize distribution ceremony for a quiz competition held under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’.
