Srinagar, Oct 13: A low-intensity 4.3 and 2.7 magnitude twin earthquake jolts were felt on Sunday afternoon across Doda district of Jammu division and no damage was reported in the region. It was the seventh in the past two months in the area, officials said.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said the 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck the region at 6.14 am. Its epicentre was in Gunpoh Doda.The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, it said.
On Saturday, another low intensity earthquake with magnitude: 2.7 around 17:11:51 IST struck Doda and its depth was 10 Kilometres.
It triggered panic among the people who rushed outside their homes and called their loved ones to enquire about their wellbeing.
An official from Doda administration told Rising Kashmir that two earthquake jolts were felt on Sunday and no loss of life and property was reported so far.
With the fresh tremor, the tally of earthquakes felt in Chenab valley in the past two months has gone up to seven. Pertinently Jammu and Kashmir is located in an 5th seismic zone earthquake prone region.
