Jammu, Sep 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the National Conference (NC), Congress and other political parties, accusing them of having nexus with separatist forces and having connections with Pakistan.
Speaking to the media persons, Chugh claimed that the ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will result in a “decisive defeat” for these parties, as the people of the region have “seen through their games”.
His comments came in the wake of Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s statements, which he said exposed a “nexus” between Pakistan and the NC-Congress alliance. “This connection demonstrated Pakistan’s intention to interfere in J&K elections and established that the Abdullah family of the NC and the Gandhi family in the Congress have been taking directions from Pakistan to cause disruption in the region,” he said.
The BJP leader demanded that the Abdullahs and Gandhis explain their alleged links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. “It is reprehensible that an anti-national alliance has been dancing to the tunes of Pakistan forces to fool the people of J&K,” he said, adding that the Modi government has a clear vision for the development and growth of the Union Territory, where “anti-national forces will be made to take a back seat”.
Chugh said that Jammu & Kashmir is experiencing a new era of hope and positivity following the abrogation of Article 370, for which he credited the Modi government. “The region is on a path of progress and the separatist forces will face a crushing defeat in the upcoming elections, similar to what happened during the last Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
