Shopian, Sept 18 : In a unique initiative aimed at increasing voter turnout, the district administration in Shopian felicitated voters who were among the first to report at polling stations on Wednesday.
These voters were honoured with appreciation certificates and gifts as a gesture of acknowledgment for their commitment to the democratic process.
The initiative was part of a broader effort announced by the District Election Officer (DEO) of Shopian just days before the polls, with the goal of encouraging greater voter participation in the area.
By offering incentives such as gift vouchers and certificates, the administration aimed to motivate residents to cast their votes early and ensure better overall turnout.
First-time voters, along with those who arrived early at polling stations, were specifically targeted in this campaign and received special recognition.
