Srinagar, Aug 12: The executive body of the Press Club of Kashmir on Monday announced that the journalist fraternity in the valley will soon have a dedicated press club in Srinagar, which will be named the ‘Press Club of Kashmir’.
In a recent meeting of prominent journalists, the executive body was nominated to lead the establishment of the club, the body said in a press release. The key members include M Saleem Pandit, a journalist with Times of India, who will serve as the Patron/Interim President, Zulfikar Majid of Deccan Herald as the General Secretary and Farzana Mumtaz of News Kashmir as the Treasurer.
Following this meeting, the executive body held discussions with officials from the Union Territory (UT) administration regarding the establishment of the Press Club. The administration’s functionaries assured the executive body of their full support and assistance, aiming for the swift opening of the Press Club of Kashmir in Srinagar.
“This initiative is a significant step forward in providing a dedicated space for journalists in the region, ensuring they have a supportive environment to carry out their work,” the body said, adding that the press club is expected to become a hub for the media fraternity, fostering collaboration and professional growth among journalists in the valley.
