Srinagar, Aug 12: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) is organising a series of programmes to spread awareness against ragging.
The programmes, aimed at providing a safe and ragging-free learning experience to students, are being organised jointly by the Proctorial Wing and Dean of Students and shall feature Nukads, painting competitions, lectures and taking pledges against raging.
The inaugural session was chaired by Prof A. H. Moon, Dean of Academic Affairs and attended by police officers. Prof Moon said that at IUST a robust mechanism against raging is in place and raging under no pretext is allowed.
“IUST has constituted an anti-raging committee that has representatives from civil society, police, administration and student community,” he said, adding that as the admission process has commenced, the induction programme for the students shall have specific sessions informing students about anti-ragging measures and grievance redressal mechanisms available at IUST.
The programme was attended by Senior Proctor IUST, Dr Shiekh Jameel, Dr Asifa Baba, Dean of Students, Deans of Schools, HoDs and students and faculty.
