Srinagar, Aug 08: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a UT Level Steering Committee (UTLSC) meeting today, granting administrative approval for 47 Water Supply Schemes (WSS) under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 in Jammu and Kashmir. The approved projects, valued at ₹312.89 crore, aim to enhance water security and provide functional water tap connections to all households in major towns across the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including the Additional Chief Secretary of the Jal Shakti Department, Principal Secretary of Power Development Department, Commissioner Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Department, Secretary of Rural Development Department, Director General of Codes, and Chief Engineer, among others.
Chief Secretary Dulloo instructed the officials to expedite the tendering process for these projects, with all tenders to be floated by August 15. He emphasized that these projects are subject to regular reviews in PRAGATI meetings chaired by the Prime Minister.
Dulloo also directed that necessary approvals from the finance department be obtained before presenting proposals exceeding ₹20 crore to the Administrative Council for concurrence. He urged the officials to set a clear timeline for each project to ensure timely completion through rigorous monitoring.
Commissioner Secretary Mandeep Kaur provided details of the AMRUT 2.0 projects, revealing that 49 projects, amounting to ₹330.54 crore, have been sanctioned, surpassing the approved allocation of ₹312.89 crore. She noted that 47 Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) were submitted for administrative approval, with two awaiting final approval from the Administrative Council.
The UTLSC also approved an additional ₹35 crore for the engagement of a Project Management Unit (PMU) to oversee the scheme’s implementation.
The approved projects will benefit various towns, including Srinagar, Jammu, Budgam, Kulgam, Bhaderwah, Batote, RS Pura, Akhnoor, Chenani, Hiranagar, Kathua, Lakhanpur, Vijaypur, Reasi, Baramulla, Beerwah, Magam, Pattan, Devsar, Uri, Awantipora, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Sopore, and several smaller towns in both divisions of the Union Territory.
