Srinagar, Apr22: Lieutenant Governor ManojSinha today met the family members of the victims who lost their lives in the heartbreaking boat tragedy on April 16.
The Lt Governor expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and assured all help and support to them.
“The UT Administration stands shoulder to shoulder with the families in this hour of grief,” he said.
Earlier, the government provided an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh each to the Next of Kin (NoK) of the victims. Additionally, an amount of Rs. 50,000 was given to each of the four injured persons.
It is noteworthy that last week, a boat carrying 15 people capsized in the Gandbal area of Srinagar. Six people died, six others were rescued, and three others went missing. Despite several days of search operations, there is no trace of the missing persons.
LG urges accelerated construction at SASB site
Lieutenant Governor ManojSinha today reviewed the progress of the Office and YatriNiwas of ShriAmarnathjiShrine Board at PanthaChowk, Srinagar.
The Lt Governor made an inspectional visit to the prestigious project site and directed the Officials to fast-track the construction works to complete the targeted floors ahead of schedule.
DrMandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar and other senior officials were present.
