• Chairs security meeting at PCR
• Directs officers to launch CASO’s in sensitive areas of the valley
Srinagar, Aug 02: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi-IPS chaired a security review meeting and stressed the need to enhance security of vulnerable targets and said that stressed on security and counter-insurgency plans for peaceful upcoming events.
Addressing the key security meeting at PCR Srinagar, he emphasized the need to review and enhance the security plans and to design effective counter-insurgency strategies for smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming events.
During the meeting, IGP Kashmir directed the officers to increase surveillance upon anti-national elements and to increase area domination in their respective areas. He stressed the need to enhance the security of vulnerable targets and to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming events.
He also directed the district heads to closely monitor social media platforms to prevent any attempt to spread mis-information impacting public safety and order.
IGP Birdi also instructed the officers to increase cordon and search operations along sensitive areas of the valley and national highways in particular.
During the meeting, the officers discussed the recent security developments along with the current challenges viz a viz the measures to counter these challenges. The meeting concluded with the resolve to ensure heightened vigilance, improved coordination and effective implementation of security measures to maintain peace and safety across the valley.
The meeting was attended by IG CRPF (SOS), JD IB Srinagar, IG CRPF (KOS) Srinagar, DIG CID Srinagar, DIGs of Kashmir Zone Police, DIG Armed Kashmir, DIG CRPF South Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, all district SSPs, DC SB Srinagar, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, SSP CID SBK, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SP PC Srinagar and other senior officers.
