Ganderbal, Jsuly 23: The paddy fields in the FrawHaknar area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have become a cause of concern for local farmers. Over the past few days, grain crops have developed multi-colored marks that are increasing in intensity, leaving farmers in a state of shock and uncertainty.
Local residents report that they have never seen such phenomena before and are unsure whether the marks are a result of a heat wave or a disease affecting the crops. “We don’t know what is actually happening in the paddy fields,” said one concerned resident.
Farmers have urgently appealed to the Department of Agriculture, particularly the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Kangan, to address the issue promptly. They stressed the importance of a swift response to determine whether the marks are due to a disease and, if so, to provide the necessary treatment to prevent further damage. “The year-long hard work of a poor farmer should not go to waste,” they implored.
Lateef Ahmad, the SDO from the Agriculture Department in Kangan, informed Rising Kashmir that they have directed their employees to visit the affected area and compile a detailed report. “I myself will visit the spot,” Ahmad stated. “We don’t know whether it is a disease or something else until we conduct a thorough inspection.”
