3 terrorists killed, Operation underway: Officials
Srinagar, July 14: Three unidentified terrorists were killed after the Army foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran Sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir, officials said.
Srinagar-based Chinar Corps Spokesman said that an infiltration bid has been foiled on Sunday in Dhanush II, Keran Sector, Kupwara.
“Three terrorists have been eliminated in the ongoing anti-infiltration operation on the LoC in Keran Sector, alongwith recovery of weapons and other war-like stores,” he said adding that operation is underway.
Sources told Rising Kashmir that security forces had launched an operation in the Dhanush forests area of Keran area of Uri sector on Sunday after noticing suspicious movement near the LoC.
“So far three terrorists have been killed and massive search operation is underway in the entire forest range. Exchange of gunfire was going on till the last reports came in,” he said.
Sources said that movement of terrorists was detected and an operation was immediately launched. During gunfight, three terrorists were killed, whose identities are yet to be ascertained.
“During search operation, ammunition and other war-like stores have been recovered. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation,” sources said.
This was the third infiltration bid along LoC in Kashmir this year so far. During the winter season, infiltration attempts go down and pick up once the snow starts melting and passes open up.
On June 22, Army foiled infiltration bid in Bajrang area of north Kashmir’s Uri sector. On May 16, two unidentified terrorists were killed along LoC in Tangdhar Sector of Kupwara.
